How many peppers did Peter Piper pick?

August 12, 2011/From the Garden
I stayed at my mom’s house for the three weeks while we were without a home. One great thing about mom’s house is her garden! Seriously. I’d pick zucchini in the morning and grill it that night.
Want a fresh tomato for your sandwich? Grab a ripe one from the vine (that a bird didn’t take a bite of) and slice it up immediately. It will still be warm from the afternoon sun and smell like a tomato… unlike the hothouse ones you buy in the winter from the grocery store.

Okay, enough about tomatoes… and on to hot peppers. Mom had a gazillion hot peppers ready and I knew we could never eat them all before they spoiled. So I dried them. Here’s what I did:
I threaded the peppers through the middle of the pepper. I’m not exactly sure why except that’s what the internet told me to do. I’m guessing it’s because the green part dries up and the thread would fall out of it eventually??

Then I looped the thread around the pepper and took the needle back through the same hole.

Like this… It keeps the pepper in place.
Space your peppers about 6 inches apart or the space between your thumb and pinkie.
Hang them in a sunny window. For months. Until they are dry and shriveled. Then cook with them.

What is everyone else harvesting from their gardens?
