The Marquiss Family and the NHL

January 23, 2012/Family

Friday night the girls, Henry, and I headed downtown for an NHL hockey game. We scored some tickets randomly through a lady who bought a rug from me off Craigslist. Yeah, I know. I’ll let that sink in…. she works for a division of the Chamber of Commerce. Her job is to make people feel connected to the city…. so she made us feel connected. So random. But I’m not complaining.

(the singing of the anthems – which incidentally was sung by someone I recognized from our church)
(the face off)
Our seats were really good. It made seeing things like this….
and this…
…easier to see by looking at the ice and not the big screens. The only time I looked at the screens was when the puck was in one of the corners closest to me.
The game was a fabulous one to attend – we planned it that way, of course. The Penguins were down 4-2, but managed to come back with goals by Jeffrey and Malkin late in the third period.
The game ended tied 4-4.
Then there was a five-minute overtime that went scoreless.
So there was an exciting shootout where Malkin was the only player to make it. Whoot! Whoot!
(Malkin shooting the winning goal)
The crowd went wild and the Pens won!

We had a great night at our first family NHL Hockey game. I’m hoping it’s not our last.

How fun! I love how the Lord gives us special little gifts like this in our day to day lives!

Glad you had a good time. (:>)

I know I shouldn’t be, but I am sooo jealous! We are huge Penguins fans…my son wore #66 when he played travel hockey and #87 when he played in high school. He is going to the Blues/Pens game in St Louis tomorrow night! We rooted for our favorite team during the 70’s and 80’s in the Igloo. How fortunate are you to score tickets in their new venue! Are your girls ready to lace up their skates and practice stick handling? (BTW, you may want to change NFL to NHL in your first sentence – but maybe you are thinking about and looking forward to next year’s Steelers games!) Go Black and Gold! Glad you are enjoying Pittsburgh…I know we did during our 10 year stay!
