Still catching up from the cath….. We got home late Sunday night. Monday morning I felt the weight of the last five days bearing down. I was worried about Natalie’s ankle and knew it was a priority to get her to the doctor ASAP. I felt bad she’d already had to wait almost a week for me to get back.
Monday morning came bright and early and I did not want to get up. So I stayed in bed until it was time for the kids to get ready for school… things always go better when I start my day before the kids. I drove the girls to school since Natalie was on crutches, then rushed Ryan to preschool arriving just a few minutes late. I was confused that the parking lot outside his classroom was a ghost town, but there were a few cars and I knew I was on the late side.
Of course when I got to the classroom it was dark and the calendar posted outside the classroom noted Monday was a field trip to the local Farm Market. Agh! I hadn’t showered, hadn’t eaten breakfast, and didn’t have a dr’s appointment for Natalie. These were all things I was going to do once I’d dropped Ryan.
Instead I found myself on my front porch crying at 9:15 in the morning…. stressed that I couldn’t get Natalie into an orthopedic doctor before Thursday, knowing I had to eat before the field trip unless I wanted to vomit and wanting to at least put on makeup and deodorant before heading to see all the other moms.
Poor Ryan couldn’t figure out what was wrong with his pregnant, frustrated mama!
The good news is I found a dr that could get Natalie in late that afternoon, I had a quick bite to eat, applied some makeup and deo and ran out the door with the boy who really wanted to find his class. He was so worried about why they weren’t in the classroom. We arrived at the farm market a half-hour late, but at least we got there. And Ryan had fun.
His class learned about animals that eat the crops, when to start planting, what pumpkins need to grow and all sorts of stuff.
They played an apple matching game….
And planted some pumpkin seeds…. here’s Ryan getting his seed…
And poking it into the soil….
They also saw how apples are picked and washed on the farm and stood in a walk-in refrigerator. (Ryan walked in and almost immediately walked right back out stating it was too cold!)
We each got a pumpkin to take home.
We also bought some yummy local gala apples for our family.
And by the way, I managed to pray myself into better shape and finish out the day getting things checked off the list. By Monday night I felt like I’d lived a week and was actually surprised the next morning that it was only Tuesday! Love it!
