This week’s seven quick takes:

1
It’s officially Spring! Here is proof:
My pansies and daffodils are blooming too and the tulips and hyacinths are on their way up.
2
Ainsley said to me this week: “Mama, when two windows (in the car) are down it makes my eyes go to my knees and drip down.” I have no idea what she means by this.
3
I felt overrun by toys last week. I couldn’t walk in the girls’ room. This is frustrating since I am always picking stuff up. They are always picking stuff up too. This can only mean one thing – there is too much stuff. Wednesday while they were at school I cleaned the room AGAIN. I realized the problem wasn’t too many toys, just too many stuffed animals. How can this be? We purged them before Christmas. I think there may be some rabbits in that toy bin.
Thursday we purged again. It’s usually like pulling teeth for Natalie to get rid of anything, but she did awesome! However I think Ainsley had a hard time figuring out what we were doing. I started out by saying, “Okay, which of these stuffed animals do you want to give to a little girl who doesn’t have any?” They each chose one to put in the give away pile. Then I said, “Now if mommy told you to get a baby to sleep with, which one would you chose?” Ainsley pointed to the one she threw in the give away pile. “But you’re giving that one away!” I said. “No, I want to keep that one.” It took her several rounds, but she finally got the gist. The result was a large garbage bag of stuffed babies out the door. Oh, and more room to walk in their room. Yeah!

Last week I went shoe shopping. Some of you may wonder why this is blog worthy. Others know I hardly go shoe shopping and if I do there is an even slighter chance I will find something I like at a price I’m willing to pay. My husband thinks I’m crazy. When he goes shopping he finds what he likes and buys it. It’s just not in my nature to do this. I blame my mom. She could’ve instilled in me worse things… just sayin’.
I started out at the sales rack and quickly headed to the middle of the store. I was looking for a pair of silver shoes that weren’t too over the top to go with a pair of gray pants I own. I’ve been looking (i.e. thinking about looking) for these shoes for three years. I got distracted by these….
Then I found these. They are a little flashy, but they’ll do.
As I was walking around, I decided I also needed shoes to go with a navy pair of pants I own that need better accessories. And my eyes were diverted by these…
Love them! Their soles are Jeep engineered. What surburanite needs Jeep-engineered-tractioned shoes? Certainly not me, but I snatched them up because I love them and I need something like this for summer. I haven’t bought running shoes for like five years – and I’m not exaggerating. No, these aren’t running shoes, they’re summer roughing it shoes, but I thought I’d give you an idea of how long it’s been since I splurged on shoes. And yes, I will continue wearing the running shoes I own. Not sure if I’ve mentioned it, but I don’t run. I walk, so they last longer, right?
Refocused, I found the shoes for the navy blue pants. Now all I need is a chunky red necklace to go with them.
I had one more pair of shoes I needed to look for, but by this time I was carrying so many shoe boxes I kept dropping them. It didn’t help that I was also carrying a large sweet tea from McDonald’s. I took my boxes to the cashier to stow for me until I was ready. Seriously. I was that committed. And don’t think I didn’t look for a shopping cart or neat little handled basket. I did, early on when I was only carrying three boxes of shoes. There weren’t any. I guess they don’t plan for those of us who only go shopping once every FIVE YEARS.
Last, but not least, I found these on the clearance rack. I don’t own winter or rain boots and figure these can pull double duty. They came in handy with this week’s spring showers.
I walked out $200 poorer. My husband sighed and said, “Who needs five pairs of new shoes?” I smiled and said, “Me!” Good thing I bargain shop the rest of the year.
Technically, I have three more seven quick takes to give you, but that shoe one was mighty long. So instead I will count that as my other three and jump to this week’s question.
What’s new in your closet?

Love the shoes, but my favorite part was that you were carrying a McDs sweet tea. That stuff is addictive.

LOVE the rain boots. So cute! I totally understand too many toys.
The only new thing in my closet right now is Alysa’s birthday gift that I am hiding til her birthday. After tomorrow, there will be nothing new. I should work on that. LOL

I love shoes! Also, to show how different our locations are, I didn’t even know McDs made Sweet Tea. I know we have sweet tea flavored vodka.

I went jeans shopping. I had one pair of jeans and they ripped. Now I have 5! I can actually get dressed. It’s amazing.

I never shop for shoes either! It is VERY low on my list of priorities!
With 4 kids, I never nave a need for heels, but if I did, I would love those sassy red ones! I did break down last year and bought a pair of rubber boots for the same reason you did, only mine have Leopard spots on them! And when ever I wear them, I crack myself up!
I keep you in my reader so it’s been awhile since I actually visited your site, but cute new (to me) look! :o)

Space. I am so happy that I finally let go of stuff that I haven’t worn in more than a year, is the wrong size or just not “me” and now I have space. Not that my closet was jammed, I’m mostly a blujean girl, but once something lands in my closet I feel like I have to keep it for my lifetime. The space feels so good. I hope I can practice letting go more, it is exhausting holding on to everything especially the useless stuff just praying someday it will serve a purpose again.
Hopefully someone will find my stuff in the goodwill and think they found a treasure. That thought helps me to let go. Kind of like your girls and their stuffed animals.

Not in my closet yet but in my knitting bag are enough skeins of a beautiful apple green alpaca silk to make a beautiful sweater and I found it on the more than 50%off table. 🙂 I liked it during the 30% off sale at Thanksgiving and didn’t buy it. Now I’m blessed. “happy dance”

I have the funky red necklace from back in the ’70s. You don’t know funky until you wear something from the ’70s and yes, this is your mom who never gets rid of anything that I think might one day be useful (the red necklace is a prime example that this policy of mine does eventually pay off). Love the boots! C U T E
I personally have also made a recent purchase, a new cute dress for a wedding this summer. Of course, being a size above where I want to be, I bought two of them with the intent of returning hopefully the larger one after I drop 10 lbs. ha Mom
