Settling in for the evening…

March 6, 2009/Ryan

We were able to visit with Ryan after his surgery.  He was still under the anesthesia, but doing well. His heart rate elevated a bit after surgery, but the docs and nurses assured us this is a normal reaction to surgery and not to worry. Of course, it’s hard not to. However, as of this post, his heart rate is back in the normal range and his oxygen sats are 80s and 90s.

We are grateful to the team of doctors and nurses caring for him – they are doing an excellent job. We are most grateful to the Great Physician for watching over our baby, caring for him, and providing us with peace as we face each day.

    Please see my blog…

I made a Praying for Ryan button, if you want to add it to your site so others can grab it and post it on their site to continue his circle of prayer growing.

    God Bless.

It was so nice to see you at Target, and give you a hug. I wish I had Ryan’s hat in my purse like I had for the past few days after I finished it!

My heart aches with you. We have a daughter who had two open heart surgeries when she was just over 1 year old – spending 10 weeks in ICU . . . many of those weeks them not thinking she’d make it. She is now 12 years old. This past December we were at the U of MI for another appt. for her for spinal problems & while there she went into heart failure. Long story short – it was beyond a miracle how it all fell into place with the surgeon being there, her being in the right place at the right time. They called her the Christmas Miracle in ICU. She came home 8 days later and is doing wonderfully. I share this to tell you – we have a Mighty Great Physician who knows every detail of your baby’s heart. Even when docs thought Jessica would not make it – or only live a few weeks – she blew them away. Our days are numbered by God – not by man – PTL! 🙂

I will be praying for you, your family and your precious baby.

I am glad the surgery went well. I newly found Grandma Willa on facebook, who was a highschool classmate of mine. I work at Children’s in the NICU. I am familiar with many of the personnel in the CICU. Bless you. Martha

Leighann, I am still praying, though you don’t know me. I have a special place in my heart for heart babies and families. I live in the Fairfax, VA area and am familiar with the church you attend. I learned about Ryan through your friend, Maggie, who asked for prayer for you on a Christian homemaking forum. He has not been far from my thoughts since Maggie alerted us. I pray for his complete recovery and your strength and most of all for God’s will to be done and for glory to be brought to Him through this crisis of faith for all of you.
    In love, Jean

Dear Leighann and Henry (and hobbits),
I am Dana, sister to Missy and she introduced me to your web site. First, your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Second, let me tell you I appreciate the work you put into this site. So many others are benefitting from your explanations and experiences; a catharsis of sorts for the both of you and a Godsend for your readers. I work in cardiac cath, am new to this field and have learned so much from your explanations. Not just the medical aspect, but the emotional and personal. This helps to keep my patients real. Thank you for sharing such deeply personal information. God bless you both and your family. God bless Ryan. Love, Dana
