18 inches in 24 hours. Need I say more?

Oh, okay. You know me. I am compelled to say lots more. We spent much of the morning and afternoon moving snow from one spot to another. We had to reshovel the walk, driveway and pipestem in addition to moving the huge pile of snow left at the end of the driveway by the plow and digging Henry’s car out of it’s spot.
Said car….
Said spot…
Said plow pile…
The girls had a ball in the snow. I thought we might lose one of them if we weren’t careful! The pile was nearly as tall as Ainsley. Natalie made snow angels on the sides of the mounds and had fun walking through the snow drifts.
Ainsley had a great time too until one of us (I’ll leave you to guess who) accidentally knocked her in the head with our shovel. She tried to be brave. She hid behind my leg while Henry and I kept saying, “Are you alright?”  I bent down and picked her up. Her little eyes were full of tears but she was laughing. “Are you okay?” I asked again. “No, but I laughing.” she answered.  I hugged her close. “I want to go in my bed.” she said. She says this when she’s upset so I knew she was indeed not alright. Just like her mommy she tends to isolate when she is feeling sad or overwhelmed.
“You can go in your bed, Ains, but I want you to know it’s okay to be with people when you are feeling sad. You can always come to mommy and daddy for hugs and kisses.” I say. She nods as I carry her into the house and spends the rest of the time by herself inside watching a movie, eating stick cheese and generally being happy.
After shoveling, we spent a quiet day as a family making cookies, watching movies, playing and generally relaxing.
Ryan spent the day quietly at the hospital with his snowed-in nurse. Nothing big to report. The team continues to work on weaning him from the oxygen and narcotics. There is talk of sending him home soon…it’s just a matter of getting home nursing care lined up. Since he is weaning from narcotics, has continuous feeds, and is still on supplemental oxygen, home nursing care would help alleviate any fears that he is withdrawing and would help me keep my sanity! We aren’t sure the exact day, but it could be as early as this week. We’ll keep you in the loop.
How did you spend your weekend?

Spent the weekend doing what you did…digging out and trying to stay warm. We had over 2 feet. My girls played in the snow, made snow angels and sled down our hill. The 2 dogs became doggie snowballs, as they are small and all the snow sticks to their fur until they can’t move and have to be rescued. We watched movies too…one being “A Dog Named Christmas” which was really sweet.

Great news on Ryan! I hope he is home before Christmas, so your whole family can celebrate the day together!!

Wow!! That is definitely a lot of snow. We got just enough snow to make our yard muddy.

Yeah, that was a lot of snow. We are home bound again today because of bad roads.
Loved the pics and stories about your snowy weekend. Poor Ainsley! She is such a sweet child.
IF ryan came home this week, what a HUGE CHRISTMAS present to you and your little family. What would that mean as far as visiting extended? Just curious?
    Love ya all.

We also dug out . . . although we officially got 20.5 inches and, unofficially, we got about 24 inches (my guestimate). But, really, with two jeeps, “digging out” isn’t that much work 😉 We actually went shopping a bit, figuring that the malls would be empty . . . not so! I was surprised at how many people were out and about.

We had 24 inches of snow in Annapolis…we completely cleared our driveway yesterday, but we were still homebound until this afternoon when our street was finally plowed. Praying that all the details are worked out, and Ryan comes home soon.

Praise the Lord!! Thats fantastic news with Ryan getting to come home and the whole family be toghter under one roof.
I have to giggle just a bit at all the snow. I have not seen real snow in years, our last duty station we had snow in VA, it GRID LOCKED the roads for MILES. It took hubby 4 hours to get home which usually took him 20 min. There were over 200 accidents due to the conditions mostly due to the drivers not paying attention to the road conditions.
I would love some snow for Christmas.
