I’ve tried to get to my computer most the morning to update you guys on what’s going on with Ryan but it’s been a constant flow of people from PT, OT, Case Management, Child Life, Nurses, Nurse Practioners, Surgical Fellows and the food cart. Ryan successfully weaned down to 1/2 a liter of oxygen before having weird saturation readings. By weird I mean the monitor was telling us he was desatting to 34, 45, or 55 but Ryan was happily playing with blocks, throwing them at me and knocking down towers with no change to his color or energy level. Typically we’d chalk this up to a bad read on the probe but all the indicators were saying the pulse ox was reading correctly. Because Ryan is acting well we are ignoring the probe for now (which is inaccurate below 65 anyway).
All this being said, we are still planning to go home tomorrow pending the surgeon’s approval. The only debate is whether we leave on oxygen or not. The case manager ordered it just in case as well as all our home meds.

Ryan and I are very ready to be home after three weeks away. Hopefully my next update will be saying we’re loading up the car.

I don’t know why but the first picture of Ryan makes me think he is an executive, issuing instructions, or maybe a stock broker saying to buy or sell….he just looks much older than his years. Praying for red shoes for both of you to take you home, there is no place like home.
aww he’s so cute. Hope he gets out 😉
Thrilled to hear you will be headed back to Pittsburgh soon! God is amazing.
Ryan looks great! Praying all your ducks are in a row so you all can go home tomorrow!
Great news! I hope Ryan continues to regain his strength, and I pray that you have safe travels back to Pittsburgh.
