Ryan had a little bit better of a night last night, but continues to be uncomfortable with his chest tubes and a possible irritation from his catheter (it was removed after 24 hrs, but he seems to have pain when going potty).
The absolutely amazing news is that the surgical team agreed to remove his larger surgical chest tubes and leave the smaller one they placed yesterday. The drainage into those tubes is so minimal he doesn’t need them at this point. The risk is that once he starts eating, there may be an uptick in fluid and we may need to place another smaller tube to drain the fluid. At this point we are willing to take the risk because his agitation levels are so high he’s becoming sleep deprived and refusing liquid… we need him to rest and eat. We’re hoping if we can get him more comfortable he’ll be able to do both.
Please continue to pray…. that his fluid will stabilize and not become an issue.
Pray that he’ll be able to rest – – a real peaceful rest without waking up in fear and pain.
Pray that a planned visit from the girls today will cheer him up and go well for all involved.
Thank you for supporting our family. We are grateful and blessed for having so many praying for us and reaching out to us during this time.
