Piper is one week old. I can’t believe how fast time is going. I happened to catch her during a gas bubble… it looks like she’s smiling.

And now she’s just being silly…

And a serious one…

This baby is so sweet. Other than the fact she thinks 3-4 hours of wake time in the middle of the night is normal. I’m enjoying having a baby to cuddle – I missed so much the third time around that I think I’m cherishing it more than I did with the girls. It took me a few days to get used to changing a diaper on a body with a fully intact mid-section, with no scars. I’m not kidding. It’s the strangest feeling to realize the common feels so uncommon.

It’s hard to know much about her personality at this point, but I will say she seems to be pretty laid-back. I guess as the fourth you kindof have to put up with many hands touching you and little faces up in yours all the time. She tolerates the kids so well and doesn’t mind them holding her and changing her diaper.

Truth: Natalie was ecstatic to change Piper’s diaper however it only took one messy diaper for the novelty to wear off. When she opened the diaper she said, “Ew, yuck! I’m not changing that! It’s green!”  I warned her that now is the time to change messy diapers as opposed to when Piper starts eating real food. I’m guessing she ain’t havin’ none of that.

One week down and many, many more to go.

I know exactly what you mean about the common feeling uncommon. I went through the same thing and still am with Kara after having Calvin. 🙂 Piper sure is cute. What a blessing and glad that you are enjoying the cuddles!
