Sunday I took the kids to see their father play the role of The Ghost of Christmas Future in a community production of A Christmas Carol. This is the second year Henry’s been involved with the production. The kids were so proud of him! And me too. It’s fun watching him on stage. For those who don’t know, TGOCF doesn’t have any speaking lines. He just points toward different scenes of Scrooge’s life to come. Ryan kept leaning over and whispering in my ear, “Does he talk?”
After the play, we stopped at a Christmas tree lot and bought a tree. Whoo hoo! The kids were soooo happy. They asked all week when we were getting a tree. They were as nervous as I was.
The trees always look so small and thin on the lot and then you get them home and realize how big they really are. I always make Henry stand next to the trees so I can tell just how tall they are before making a decision. This one ended up being perfect.
I’m still not lifting heavy objects so Henry and the girls brought the tree in as a team. Then we strung the lights and garland before the kids began hanging ornaments.
It’s nice that the girls are old enough now not to need much adult help decorating the tree. I fed Piper on the couch while the kids happily put the ornaments on the tree.
Daddy helped with the high branches…
And of course, put the star on.
There we have it. A real, live Christmas tree…

Glad to see you did get a tree! Looks like the kids enjoyed decorating it while you and Piper watched. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for all the updates…looking forward to watching Piper “grow through pictures” in 2014! May God continue to bless you and your family.
