Our last weekend of summer break was packed with fun activities. Somehow everything fell on the three days I wanted the kids to rest and gear up for school. We pretty much did the opposite.
Friday night Henry found a polo match less than an hour from our house. We’ve been wanting to go to a match, but have found it difficult to find one around us so I was excited to make the trek.
It was difficult to get good pictures because of the bright lights and movement of the horses, but you get the idea.
There is a polo club close to the Ohio line that apparently plays matches almost every Friday night of the summer….
The venue is a local field that’s smaller than regulation play, but a great place for watching as a family as you can see everything happening. Most the spectators hail from the same town as the polo club but every once in awhile they get a straggler – like us!
There were even a few girls out there! The lady we were sitting next to asked Natalie if she’d want to learn to play. Natalie said, “Maybe just learn to ride the horses and take care of them.” I guess polo isn’t in her blood.
I’m hoping we catch a few matches next year. It was a great way to spend a Friday night.
