Today is the first day of school and I had a hard time deciding if I wanted post pictures of that or go back and post pictures of our weekend. I know me though. And I know my kids. Once our day has started it’s hard for me to get back to my computer. Besides, I kindof have a rule that I can’t post while the kids are awake. Sometimes I break it, but I try not too. They vie for my attention if I’m on the computer and we all end up frustrated. Natalie is the only one at school. So pictures from the weekend prevailed. I must warn you, there are quite a few. Humor me, they’re cute.
Labor Day 2010:
There is a couple we’ve known since pre-kids. I think we met them in 2001. And we’ve since added six kids to the mix. Somehow, sometime, several years back (I think it was during a snowstorm or a hurricane, not sure which came first) we decided it was fun to spend the night at each other’s houses even though we live 15 minutes apart. As in, it takes me longer to drive to Walmart than it does to drive to their house.
We traditionally spent the night at their house since our kids don’t care where they sleep. However, with Ryan, we are now the hosts. The usual drill is to make a nice dinner, let the kids play until they’re tired and have the adults play board games into the wee hours of the morning.
This weekend we added meeting at a park for dinner the next day after everyone went to separate houses for afternoon naps. Saturday’s weather was perfect – almost chilly – the kids were happy to be outside without melting.
Ryan took a turn. Who do you think had more fun?
The girls had fun on the jungle gym.
And swinging like Tarzan and Jane.
Ryan did a little climbing of his own. This may like not look like much, but it’s at an angle. He loved it even though I was nervous he was going to fall backward.
He wasn’t quite sure about his first time on the slide. He didn’t mind as long as we held on to him. I tried holding just his hands, but it scared him. So we went back to holding onto his whole body.
