Our first born turned 6 this weekend. Six. One-third of the way to college.
Natalie is an amazing child. A typical first, she’s a go-getter, managerial, and creative. She asked for a birthday party. We said yes. Yes to 17 children running around our house for 2 hours.
I asked Natalie what kind of cake she wanted and she requested a surprise. I chose a western theme since the party was co-ed. Here is Cowboy Henry warming up all the ranch recruits before heading outside.

With 10 boys at the party, I figured sipping tea and doing crafts would not do the trick. Instead, we set up an obstacle course…
And a (nerf) shooting range.
This spells trouble.
We played Duck-Duck-Goose while waiting for those still at the shooting range.

We ended the day with a game of tag. The kids loved that part probably the best! Here is the group.
Henry and I got Natalie the American Girl doll she asked for months ago when Ainsley got one for her birthday. She came to me before bed and so sweetly said, “Thank you, mommy, for getting me Molly. She is so cool. And I love her spectacles the best of any present I got. I love opening them and closing them and putting them on her and then putting them away. They are so awesome. Thank you so much.”
It made my heart happy to see how genuine she was in her gratitude and at a time when she wasn’t asked to say thank you. She is growing up so fast. Maturing, being sweet to her sister and brother.
