Gladys Edith Schwanebeck Stamper

Gladys Edith Schwanebeck Stamper, 88, was born on January 12, 1925, in Essex, MD and left this world on January 27, 2013 surrounded by her children at her home in Hagerstown, MD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy B Stamper, Sr. who died in 2001, her father, Fritz Karl Herman Schwanebeck and her mother, Berta Gellert Schwanebeck both who arrived in America at Ellis Island, NY in 1923 & 1922, respectively, and her brother, Herbert Schwanebeck, who died in 1924.

She is survived by 2 brothers, Gilbert (& Edna) Schwanebeck of Essex, MD, and Milton (& Martha) Schwanebeck of Waynesboro, PA and 3 sisters, Hilda Keaton (widow of Samuel, Sr.) of Chambersburg, PA, June Schwanebeck of Waynesboro, PA, and Janice Schwanebeck of Waynesboro, PA.

She is also survived by 8 children, 30 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. Her surviving children are Andy B (& Pamela) Stamper, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD, Amelia (& Steven) Kasinof of Greencastle, PA, Lillie McHale of York, PA, Willa (& Henry III) Marquiss of Hagerstown, MD, Herman (& Teresa) Stamper of York, PA, Carrie (& Troy) Cosner of Clear Spring, MD, Milton Stamper, of Hagerstown, MD, and Alice (& P. Sean) Guy of Greencastle, PA.

Her 30 surviving grandchildren are, Jason (& Stephanie) Stamper of Boonsboro, MD, Monica (& Ian) Pokrywka of Hagerstown, MD, Bethany (& Daniel) Skinner of Harpers Ferry, WV, Katherine (& Joshua) Fiedler of Baltimore, MD, Laura Kasinof of Washington, D.C., Anthony (& Meghan) McHale of York, PA, Noelle McHale of Timonium, MD, Adam (& Summer) McHale of York, PA, Carrie McHale of York, PA, Henry IV (& Leighann) Marquiss of Pittsburgh, PA, Tiffany (& Bill) Warrenfeltz of Hagerstown, MD, Ryan (& Lindsay) Marquiss of Ashburn, VA, Clayton Marquiss of Hagerstown, MD, Sarah (& Evan) Kropf of Chambersburg, PA, Alexis Marquiss of Heath, OH, Aron Stamper of Norfolk, VA, Elisa (& Daniel) Frantz of Catonsville, MD, Kenneth (& Lucianna) Stamper of Newport, RI, Troy Cosner II of Lynchburg, VA, Benjamin Cosner of Clear Spring, MD, Alexander Cosner of Clear Spring, MD, Milton Jr. (& Aimee) Stamper, of Feltswell, England, Heidi (& Jonathan) Britton of Leesburg, VA, Heather (& Jeremy) Grove of Hagerstown, MD, Hamilton Stamper of Lynchburg, VA, Kara Stamper of Hagerstown, MD, P. Gladys loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and encouraged all her family and friends to love and serve Him as well. She spent many hours in prayer, lived a selfless life and was well known for her tireless work, generosity, and open-door hospitality. She loved to serve her family, friends, and guests her delicious home-cooked meals at her home where all were welcome. One of her greatest pleasures was giving to those in need. She was also a lover of music and played the accordion and Hawaiian steel guitar. She attended Robinwood Church of God in Hagerstown, MD.

    Altho’ you&I have never met, I hope you’re not offended in this post. Your family, old & young, near & far, is loved more than you know. The stampers,Keatons,marquiss & kinslow families met &had alot of children in the last century.(I miss all who i know has ceased to be & that is a true missing!)brother Andy was my Sun.schoolteacher when we all congregated at Linganore&Hammond. Mizpah.
