Jesus as God
John 10:30 I and the Father are one.
Because Jesus claimed to be God. Can you imagine if you met someone who said he was God come in the flesh? You’d think he was crazy! The Pharisees didn’t think Jesus was crazy. They thought he was trying to deceive the Jewish people and they didn’t like it.
These are men that respected God so much that they weren’t even allowed to say or write His full name! They felt it was too holy to be tarnished by them. So they were extra mad that Jesus claimed to be equal with God.
The difference between the Pharisees and us is that we know Jesus rose from the dead. The death and resurrection are history for us. It was the future for the Jewish leaders. Some people refer to it as “being on this side of the cross.” Because we are on this side of the cross we can see that Jesus fulfilled all of the prophecies given throughout the Old Testament and is the Messiah.
Activity: Crack an egg and talk about how the shell, yolk, and white is all the egg, but there are three parts. Explain that God is three parts in one: The Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit.
