There’s no place like home.

May 21, 2012/Ryan

You know you’ve been gone too long when you can’t remember which way to turn the shower knob to make the water cold or hot. I’ve scalded myself twice since being home and I’m only going on my third day here.

Ryan’s on a 1/2 liter oxygen around the clock. He’s tolerating it pretty well… he pulls his nasal cannula off about 3 times per day, but it’s much better than in the past. I think after having the breathing tube in his nose and down his throat the nasal cannula is a mere nuisance. He does get frustrated when his tubing gets stuck on something or he stands on it and can’t move. He grunts and pulls, then looks at me helplessly and whines.

He’s also on an ativan/methodone wean. He gets one of them every 3 hours around the clock for the next few days, then it will be every 4, 6, every 12 hours, then done. If everything goes as planned he’ll be off the narcotics on June 1. A two week wean is fine given last time it took two months.

There’s much to do as we’re gearing up for summer….. plant tomato plants (am I too late?), pull weeds (an entire hill’s worth), and get the house in shape. Every corner needs organized. Oh and did I mention,  there’s only three more weeks of school. Tomorrow I’ll post about our summer plans – we’ll see how well we stick to them but for now we’re going to try.

Happy Monday!

Yay!!! Home! I love coming home after an absence (although I usually don’t have little scurriers that have made messes while I was gone:)) Enjoy your organizing & planting!

Woo hoo!!! School lets out this week, we start 1/2 days tomorrow with a busy week of class partys and awards at 2 different school. We have one very sick little girl at home right now just praying it does not turn in to the plauge like the last virus did. It went thru all of us and then had the NERVE to start over again….

Glad you and Ryan finally are home. 🙂 My kids’ summer vacation will begin this Wednesday. They’ll have 3 months summer vacation this year since there was no snow days this past winter.

Oh Leighann… I am so glad you are home! We went out of town, and I had no computer, so this is the first time I read about you and Ryan being home. I am so thankful, and so happy for you.

I pray the transition goes well, and the wean off of the narcotics too. John and I will continue to pray for you all. Love, Linda
