The Heart Clinic explained.

June 4, 2010/Ryan
Ryan sees his cardiologist, Dr. D, once a month for a check-up. It’s called Heart Clinic. At these clinic visits, he is weighed and measured, his blood pressure and ox sats are recorded, and Dr. D listens to his heart. About every other time, he also gets an ECHO to check the cor triatriatum membrane in his heart. You might remember he had an emergency cath a year ago April because the cor triatriatum was blocking the blood flow in his heart. Dr. D also uses these visits to adjust Ryan’s different medications as needed.
Most post-Glen patients see their cardiologist every six months to a year. Ryan has gone more frequently because he is an odd-case (not an odd-ball, mind you) and because he has that silly cor triatriatum.
Ryan had a clinic visit on Thursday. I forgot my camera so here is a picture from a visit several months ago.

Dr. D’s assessment is that Ryan looks and acts great! She is making one more change to his medications and if he tolerates it, he will be on ‘regular’ heart meds. Which means, he will be off all the extras he was put on post-surgery. It has taken until now – – almost 10 months since his Glen – – to get his little body down to normal doses and frequencies. Crazy, huh.
The greatest news is that we don’t have to go back until SEPTEMBER! Are you kidding me? A full three months? I am so excited that he is well enough to have the summer off.
And since the picture above is so old, here is a current one for you to feast on (his t-shirt is so apropos and I didn’t even mean to do it).
