Thanksgiving, Part 2

November 27, 2012/Family
For some Black Friday means shopping with mobs of people in crazy stores, trampling others for great prices on items they may or may not need. Black Friday for me means another Thanksgiving. I’m an introvert, so I’d rather have two Thanksgivings than be somewhere with tons of people anyway. My family is crowd enough, if ya know what I’m saying.
We were only missing 3 members of the family this year. This is the adult table: Seven siblings with most the spouses and my mom and Neil. (I’ll save you from counting – we had 13 adults, missing 2 spouses)
We had one toddler in a high chair, eating a rice krispie treat turkey. (My sister, Amy, made them. This is her daugther, Muriel.)

We had 11 more kids at TWO kids’ tables T-boning our adult table. (We were only missing one grandchild – come on, Ramon!)

Somehow I didn’t end up with very many dinner pictures. Natalie thought she’d help me out by taking a self-portrait!

Jack and Muriel relaxing after dinner.

The boys doing the dishes. (thought I better document it!)

Ryan and Muriel sharing my phone to watch videos.

After playing all day and eating leftovers for dinner, we cleaned up the kitchen and sent the kids to bed. The boys went to the movies and we girls sat down to ice cookies for Dottie’s bridal shower (post to come).
Dottie made some brownie santa hats while we iced her cookies. We decided we wanted her with us since we only had a few days together rather than making them a surprise.

Here’s a sneak peak at the finished product.

And another…

Can you guess what we’re making yet?

Remember, it’s a bridal shower.

When the boys came back, Christine/Buck and Johanna/Kenny had to go home to their respective houses, but Mom, Neil, Henry, Katie, Amy, Dean, and I sat down to a game of Wizard. It’s a fun card game involving trump and bidding. We had too many people for the deck so we modified it a little and called it Lizard. (it’s funnier when you’re there).
True Story:  Our mother pulls things out for us that she finds in the attic, garage, her jewelry box, our old rooms, etc. that she thinks we want. Amy was randomly walking by the fireplace and saw a kindergarten graduation pin lying on the mantel. She picked it up and it was hers! She wore it the rest of the night. It was especially handy during Lizard.

After a full day, we headed off to bed. We had a wedding to get to on Saturday…. up next: John and Jessica’s nuptials.

P.S. Happy Birthday to my sister, Katie!!
