Surgery update

July 1, 2015/Ryan

We are in the CICU with Ryan, who is still slumbering from his busy morning having his heart opened up and rewired. The team is working toward getting him off the ventilator this evening and keeping him comfortable.

We are watching his numbers – which so far are very good. He’s sustaining o2 sats at 96/97, which is a first for him. His feet and hands are pink and warm. Little boy blue ain’t so blue anymore.

High sats this early in the game can indicate the fenestration tube is clotted off (boo!), but all his others numbers are stable so it has me shaking my head and the doctors smiling. I’m going to trust them for now.

I don’t plan to update any more today unless something urgent comes up. Please continue to pray:

~ That there wouldn’t be clotting
~ That his little body will tolerate the new Fontan wiring
~ That he won’t have excess drainage
~ That there won’t be any complications

So happy to hear this sweet report! Pink is good! Thought of you all so much yesterday, and am so glad the actual surgery is behind you. Will pray for him to be comfortable and to heal exactly as he should. Can’t wait to see his sweet smile in pictures again.
