Seven Quick Takes

January 15, 2010/Ryan

This week for our Seven Quick Takes, we will take a look at Ryan’s first week back home. Enjoy!

1
Friday – Ryan had no trouble adjusting to home. He took up right where he left off acting like the last six months, three surgeries and three heart catheterizations never happened.
2
Saturday – Natalie and Ainsley also picked up right where they left off. Ryan was home less than 24 hours and Natalie was already trying to get him to play Trouble with us. He loved it.
3
Sunday – Ryan had a rough night (the night nurse said he slept in half-hour stretches and was grumpy). He ran a low-grade fever on and off all day and slept a lot.
Monday – Our first weekday by ourselves, Ryan and I headed to get his blood drawn after dropping Ainsley at school. We didn’t get home until noon. It was a looooong morning. I wanted to get a picture of Ryan playing but he spent most the afternoon sleeping off the events of the morning.

Tuesday – We had no where to go so played all day. It was a wonderfully long boring day! I haven’t had long and boring for quite some time so the change was nice. We bathed Ryan in his room by his oxygen compressor (in the background). Natalie took all her clothes off so she wouldn’t get wet. Ainsley was the photographer and I couldn’t get her to try again to get a better shot. 😉

Wednesday was another incredibly long day. Ryan and I left the house while it was still dark to go downtown for his CT scan and consult with the neurosurgeon. He took a long nap when we got home but then woke up to play a bit in the evening. Here he is smiling while working on rolling/laying on his side.

Thursday – Ainsley has been wanting to help with Ryan’s care and her favorite thing in all the world is clothes. This child starting putting her own socks and shoes on (correctly) at 15 months. She would be putting her shoes on while I was putting Natalie’s on Natalie!  Anyway, she is constantly wanting to change Ryan’s clothes and socks. Here she is putting on his reindeer socks.
What was the highlight of your week?

Such cute pictures of that boy. Glad you had a long boring day. You needed that. Thanks for the pictures. So much fun to look at. He is looking older, not like an infant.
Highlight of my week was selling some stuff on craigslist. Yay me!! Praying for you everyday. Love ya lots.

That one of him on his side smiling… may need to be his new sidebar photo. ??

I gave my own blog a makeover all by myself this time. I never do my own blog, so come take a peek.

Glad everything is going to so well at home. He looks so relaxed and happy, as he should.

Awe, love all the pictures of Ryan and the girls! 🙂 Glad you are all settling in! 🙂 Praying for you all daily!

Highlight of my week was falling on ice at work and scraped my knee, then going to w/c van training where we have to learn how to drive the big white van & I asked to be trained on how the w/c door works and it got stuck in the middle of the process so class ended earlier 🙂 At least it happened during the training and not on an actual community outing!

Even though we are leaving for China on Monday to pick up our daughter-the highlight of my week was reading about yours! Praise God for His faithfulness is bringing Ryan home & for his healing so far! I love to see how He has shined through in His glory through your amazing story and your very special little boy!

First time visiting your blog… had to stop by when I saw the title– my hubby is also a giant, like yours!

Your little man is just precious. Even though I just started reading his story, I’m so happy for you that he’s home. And LOL at your daughter trying to play “Trouble” with him– might be a little advanced for his age?
