Ryan’s Fontan- post-op day 12 – of moving and visits

July 13, 2015/Hearts

Yesterday was an exciting day as we were able to move out of the ICU and onto the regular heart floor. Ryan managed to wean off of every IV med and his oxygen while there. The only thing remaining is his chest tubes. As of yesterday they were no longer putting out ICU numbers and his chest x-ray looked slightly better.

Last night was pretty typical of our nights here – frequent waking up – but I can tell Ryan is starting to be more tired at night and more alert during the day.

He’s also getting around much better with the chest tubes. He’s walking to the restroom and back with almost no complaints. He also visited the playroom yesterday and we hope to go again today. The more we can get him moving the faster we can get out of here.

The girls were here over the weekend. Ryan was getting pretty depressed and their visit definitely lifted his spirits. Piper leaned over his bed and was touching his face pointing out his nose, mouth, etc. I thought it would annoy him but instead he opened his eyes like the old Ryan and started smiling and playing with her. It was the first time I saw him smile in a few days.

Natalie and Ainsley played games with him and generally hung out with him for 2 days and helped recharge my little extrovert!

Henry worked wonders for me, doting on me all weekend and making sure I had everything I needed before heading back to the Burgh yesterday.

We are going to miss the gang and are praying we don’t have much longer to be here .

Thank you for your continued prayers.

p.s. If you are sending a card, please change the cardiac ICU to the HKU in the address.

Hallelujah!!!! I am so glad things are progressing nicely! So glad you and Ry had the weekend time with Henry and the girls…I knew that would help Ryan a lot to see them! AND I’m so glad your honey catered to you and helped you to feel refreshed…and feeling like you can face the week ahead!

God is good all the time! <3

I love the updates so we know what's going on…and so we know how to pray for you.

card already sent with the ICU in the address……. Guess Ryan needs to turn in a little change of address card – so glad for that good news. Also, glad you got some Henry TLC – you deserve it! Super day Ryan and mom!
