For this week’s Pinterest Party, I made a Valentine’s present for Henry. My pinspiration was this:
Pinned Image
(there was so source connected to the pin which is sad, because someone deserves credit for this idea.)
I really liked several things about the pinspiration, but wanted to tweak it a bit. First I loved the frame. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find one like it (boo) but found one I thought Henry’s traditional side would like (yay). Mine already had a space for 4 4×6 photos so I just went with it.

I went onto google maps and put in a place near the cities we’ve lived. I like the map idea, but didn’t want the pin or A in a circle like google and map quest print on the location you’ve chosen. By choosing a city nearby, I could cut crop the location marker out of my hearts.

I took a plain piece of paper and made a template that fit perfectly into the matting. I traced that onto my cities and cut away.

Then I did some research online for ‘fancy fonts’ and copied freehand some of the ideas I saw. If I could do this again, I might print them, but I had already cut my scrap paper to fit the matting and didn’t want to start over.
I used rubber cement to paste the hearts to the scrap paper and then centered them in the squares with space for writing below.

And that’s all there was to it.
Our house is full of taupe and tan so this will match pretty much any room we choose to hang it in.
What pinspiration did you try out this week?

Love the idea but when I thought of doing it for us, it would be the same location within 12 miles of “we met”. 🙂 I’ll have to think of something for our travels….Happy Friday!

I love this, too! So much that I’m going to make it right now for Tim’s birthday which is on Sunday, remember Ryan and Tim share the same day! I feel bad admitting publicly that I waited this long and we’re leaving in 8 hours for a youth group retreat that will not return us until lunch on Sunday.

I made a Menu board and posted all about it and linked it. It was soo much fun I am going to try to do at least one of my many pins each week.

Thanks for party!! 🙂 I think it’s a great idea. I’ve done quite of few of the ideas I’ve pinned, but have never had a great “excuse” to blog about it.

That is such a cute idea! I love the Pinterest Party idea – it’s getting me back into my blog (which needs some pretty serious work) and motivating me to tackle some projects!
