Paleo "Baked" Apples

January 9, 2013/Paleo

Saw an idea on Pinterest to microwave apples in a ziploc bag for a quick snack. By removing the thickening agent and sweetener, I managed to make a true Paleo-friendly dessert.

I cut up one apple, sprinkled the slices heavily with cinnamon, tossed in a handful of unsweetened raisins, and added about a tsp of water. I mixed all the ingredients in a ceramic cereal bowl, put a saucer-sized plate on top as a cover, and steamed them in the microwave for two minutes. I’m not going to lie, it doesn’t replace decadent desserts, but it does curb a sugar craving. I might throw some pecans in next time for a little crunch to remind me of one of my all-time favorite winter desserts.

Warning: Those eating refined sugar on a daily basis will prefer to add sweetener.
