Monday Blues

May 7, 2012/Ryan

Ryan had a tough day on Sunday. They decreased his sedation a little and he was totally off his paralytics. He’s still on the vent and when he woke up he indicated through pointing and crying that he wanted two things: the vent out of his nose and a drink. He obsessed about a drink all day.
It is very difficult for me to watch him so frustrated and not be able to help him. The poor boy lives on water all day and night so I’m not surprised he wants something to wet his whistle. It was his first word after the surgery, followed by the word straw.
I’m hoping we can find the balance today on his meds so he’s mellow but awake. They’d like to start decreasing the support he’s on to eventually get him off the ventilator.
Please continue to pray for us. The girls are starting to really miss their mommy. They didn’t end up coming this weekend for a variety of reasons. We hope to get them here to see me this coming weekend. Henry and I are both exhausted. Pray we’ll have strength and won’t get sick (both of us got Ryan’s cold!).  Pray for Ryan that he’ll be comforted and that his little body will heal and not have any damage from the ventilator.
Thank you, dear friends.

Praying he can soon be off that vent and can drink some water! I can’t even imagine how exhausted you and your husband must be. Praying for you all.

Hoping that Ryan is more peaceful today. That has to be so tough to see. I’m thinking about you.

Praying for a peaceful rest Ryan today; and that you and your husband stay healthy.

Praying for the girls also I can imagine how hard it must be on them not having their mommy.

    Leighann,

I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for you. I’m praying for you and Henry and the girls and Ryan, of course. I’m here if you need me.

The fear starts to creep in, fear that lurks but most days can be pushed to the back, then in the hospital it gets a front row seat, perhaps it is hogging the stage. My prayer is against satan and the fear he sows. Over and over the Bible declares “be not afraid” My prayer is for your peace, for Ryan’s peace, that God fills your room (and hearts) with his love and protection so that you not only know it, but can feel the love, protection and peace.

    Oh Leighann,
I’m praying for you guys everyday! Praying for comfort for that precious boy and for complete healing for his body!! I hope it’s an encouragement to know that you’re name is being brought before the throne of God.

I’ve been thinking about Isaiah 49:16 a lot lately. It says “See I have engraved you on the palm of my hands…” God was saying this to the people of Israel to remind them that they were not forgotten. I painted my nails purple this weekend…which I NEVER do just to remind myself of this verse. Every time I looked at my hands (which you do a lot throughout the day without thinking of it) I was reminded of this verse. Every time God looks at his hands he is reminded of us. We are “ever before him.” At the very end of chapter 49 of Isaiah it says “I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.” Praying right now that your Savior…your Redeemer will meet you right where you are…that he will minister to you physically, spiritually and emotionally and that he will do the same for Ryan.

I check your blog every day for an update, and I’ve been praying for Ryan (and you) daily. He is still a miracle boy, and God holds all of you in His hands.
