The girls started ice skating lessons again on Tuesday nights. Our local state park offers them for free for 4 weeks. We only have to pay $4 total to rent the ice skates. Um, yes please.
The girls did it last year too and loved it. Natalie loves skating… she’s a natural and pretty fast.

Ainsley inches her way across the ice, and falls a bit more, but she also loves skating. (until she’s cold and hurting).

After their group lessons (divided out by age) there is a free skate. I love watching this time. The girls start skating around the circle and eventually find each other. Then Natalie grabs Ainsley’s hand to help her keep her balance. They are such a joy to watch.
I’ve always said I hate after school activities because the kids are tired and it makes for a late night. However, after tonight, they came home and did this:
They stayed on the couch doing their homework until it was all done. No complaining, no fighting. Gosh, I wish every night could be like this.

My son (now 24) completed all tasks in school and at home when he was involved in a sport. We would have many more “disagreements” during the weeks between sports. I am sure it warms your heart seeing your girls holding hands while skating!

I LOVED ice skating as a kid, I would love it now if I could find some ice to skate on LOL. I tried to get my older boys into hockey, the only thing they would do was hold on to the hockey stick and be drug around the rink. So needless to say that only lasted one season not even that really.
