Getting ready for surgery

June 25, 2015/Uncategorized

All week I’ve been saying to myself that I need to start packing for next week. We drop the girls off Monday with family, we are in pre-op appointments all day Tuesday and Wednesday is the big day.

I keep saying it, but I’ve had a hard time actually doing laundry and putting it into piles, let alone into suitcases. Guys, the kids and I will be gone for three weeks. I think it’s time to start getting this train a movin’.

I did sit down yesterday and type out Piper’s schedule and eating habits (boy is that girl picky!) and Natalie’s dietary needs. At least that’s a start.

And I promise I’ll throw some stuff in a bag today, even if it’s just getting started.

As for blogging, I’m not sure what the next few weeks will look like. I’m guessing I won’t have a ton of creativity/reflection posts (although with three less kids, who knows!). I will probably mostly be talking about what’s going on with Ryan’s health and updating everyone as to his recovery, but I don’t know how structured the schedule will be.

If you don’t want to have to keep checking the site, you can subscribe by typing your email in that box over there to the right that talks about getting email updates and Insider Editions. That way, when something posts, you’ll be notified. Don’t worry, you always have the option to unsubscribe at the bottom of each email you receive if you find you don’t want the convenience of door-to-door service. I get it, really.

I’m feeling pretty good about the actual procedure. I know Ryan’s in good hands with his medical team and I know he and we are ultimately in the best hands possible – God’s. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers for a successful Fontan procedure – that there won’t be any complications, that Ryan’s lungs are healthy enough for the job, and that recovery will be smooth without viruses. The recovery is the biggest part I dread.

The time in-house is expected to be up to three weeks – this is if everything goes smoothly,  the girls are being shuffled around to various family members to keep them distracted and well fed. Please pray that Piper makes it that long without being incredibly mad at me in the end. It’s a long time for an 18-month old to be without her mommy. And a long time for a mommy to be without her 18-month old.

That’s all for now. I have a gazillion pieces of clothing to pack and logistics to iron out. See you here next week for updates.

Leighann- We’ve been praying for your entire family and for Ryan and all the medical staff that will be taking care of him. We will add your family as they will be caring for three of your most precious treasures. We are also being thankful that you have family who will take care of them while you are gone.If there is anything you need that we can send, please know that we are ready and able. Becky

Keeping all of you in my prayers. Also have all the ‘prayer warriors’ at my church lifting all of you, especially Ryan.
